Happiness is great musical theatre!

With charm, wit and heart, You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown explores life through the eyes of Charlie Brown and his friends in the Peanuts gang.

The whole gang is here, including bossy Lucy, piano prodigy Schroeder, perfectionist Sally, blanket-toting Linus, adventurous Snoopy, and our lovable “blockhead” himself, Charlie Brown. Though considered a "good man" by his friends, Charlie Brown can't seem to win the heart of the Little Red-Haired Girl, get approval from Lucy, kick a football or win against the kite-eating tree. Brief vignettes span the months from Valentine’s Day to Beethoven Day, from wild optimism to utter despair. Charlie and the gang battle with book reports, baseball games and misunderstandings.

The sweet, joyful innocence of the Peanuts gang is maintained, but with particularly funny dialogue and catchy orchestrations. Whether you’re keen to fly with the Red Baron, moon over the Moonlight Sonata, or just do your best to find “Happiness,” You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown is a crowd-pleasing classic.

“The songs are a delight!" - The New York Times

“Familiar and fun, this is a show that comforts your nostalgic inner child while welcoming the newer generations with open arms.” – DC Metro Theatre Arts

“Spruced up with some new material and new songs, but its humble virtues are the same ones you’d remember from the version you a) saw, b) directed or c) starred in at Robin Hood Summer Camp: perky, pleasant tunes, the genial silliness of adults playing little kids (and a beagle), the indelible appeal of Charles Schulz’s Peanuts creations.” – Charles Isherwood, Variety

“All the things you love about Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, Sally, Schroeder and Snoopy are there – the infamous little redhead girl that Charlie is so in love with, Lucy’s lemonade stand turned psychiatrist stand, Snoopy’s red house and more… With the first notes of the overture, my eight-year-old and I melted into our seats, ready for the fun to take us away.” – Holli Harms, New York Theatre Guide

“A small miracle… almost everything works, because almost everything is effortless.” – Walter Kerr, The New York Times

WHO CAN AUDITION?

STUDENTS WITH ALL LEVELS OF EXPERIENCE ARE WELCOME IN OUR PROGRAM!

What matters more to us than experience and skill is a great attitude, enthusiasm, directability and a fierce work ethic!

Ages 8-17

The show has a very small cast of 7 main characters, so we are going to have 3 casts. We will try to sort those casts by age as much as possible. Each cast will perform four times!

"You're a Good Man Charlie Brown" is great for all ages. It's a perfect show to work on your comedic skills!

Difficulty level:

* Choreography for the younger casts will be simpler than the teen cast choreography.

* Vocals and harmonies are moderate for all casts.

This show was originally performed without an Ensemble on Broadway. As we sometimes do at ACT-1 to offer ample opportunities for students, we will be adding a small, featured Ensemble to the show!  Ensemble characters will participate in the following songs:

You're a Good Man Charlie Brown

Snoopy

My Blanket and Me

Beethoven Day

The Baseball Game

Little Known Facts

Suppertime

Happiness

And more ¨̮
