WATCH
You'll need to see another theatre company's production of Mean Girls Jr. Here's a link to one we found on Youtube!
NOTE: Please... do not COPY what the actors/actresses are doing. We aren't crazy about some of the acting/blocking choices out there. We only want you to watch/listen so you can get a sense of the pacing, plot and characters, etc.

STEP TWO: SEND A VIDEO AUDITION (JUNE 4 - 15)
-
Once you're super familiar with the show and music, decide which characters you identify with, which you think you're right for, and which characters would challenge you at this stage in your training! Please pick 2 to 3 different characters to audition with, so we can see some range!
-
Here is a link to the sides and songs we'd like you to use for auditions.
-
The first round of auditions are through video submissions only!
-
Make a separate video for each character you are auditioning for, with that character's sides and song.
-
On each of your vids, we would like you to take a little bit of time to explain to us WHY you chose that character.
-
Be sure to have great acting/facial expressions while you sing --- this is not just about your voice, it's about the whole package!)
-
You will need a reader for the scenes. If you can get memorized, it will leave a better impression.
-
Please, do not email or text the entire video file. We would like you to send us a direct link. You may upload each video separately to Youtube or Vimeo on an unlisted link and send those links to sierra@act1LA.com (...if you don't know how to do that, let us know!)
-
PLEASE SEND YOUR VIDEOS IN NO LATER THAN JUNE 15!
STEP THREE: COME IN FOR AN IN-PRESON AUDITION (JUNE 18-23)
-
We will be scheduling you individually to come in for an in-person audition, between June 18 and 23.
-
We may ask you to prepare additional characters than the ones you sent in your videos.
-
We'll read some sides together, we will likely have you sing again, and we will be asking you to show us some choreography.
-
Practice LOTS! Be ready to sing and perform to your best ability, especially if you're a brand new student and we don't know you yet!
-
Print out your sides to bring with you. DO NOT READ SIDES OFF YOUR PHONE, PLEASE!!!
-
Ideally we would prefer you to be totally memorized. This will give you the strongest possible audition!

STEP FOUR: FINAL ROUND OF AUDITIONS
-
During the first couple of days of camp we'll be learning some songs and choreography for large group numbers.
-
We will continue to audition students on the first 1 or 2 days of camp.
-
We will post the cast list and do the table read on Camp Day 2 or 3! For anyone who is absent that day, we'll shoot you an email with the cast list.
